We just wrapped up this short animated B2B spot for a start-up Atlanta hi-tech company.

Going Interactive scripted, storyboarded, designed and animated this short animated B2B online video. The video was intended to give an overview of a brand new product. Since the product hasn’t been officially produced yet, it created an interesting challenge. Therefore, we had to try to show details about a product that doesn’t physically exist yet. In the end, we were able to take a stylized graphic approach which leads the viewer through a story that focuses on the product benefits.

Needless to say, the client was very excited about the final outcome. They said – “The final version is absolutely amazing”.

If your company needs to demonstrate a product or service online, consider using online video or animation. Sometimes a simple movie can speak volumes.

Going Interactive worked with Neustar on another great B2B online video for Webmetrics Load Testing.

The video covers a multitude of features offered by the Load Testing service. GI worked closely with the client and after Q&A sessions, GI created the script which gave details on how the service works and how it helps. GI then designed, animated, and recorded VO for the piece.

This look and feel is part of a larger mini series of B2B service videos Going Interactive produced for Neustar. The videos help educate clients and serve as a great source for incoming social media links. The videos live throughout the web on the Webmetrics website, and sites like YouTube, Vimeo, Blip.tv, Daily Motion and MetaCafe.

Here’s the Load Testing Video:

Even though your company knows your products and services well, that doesn’t mean your prospective clients do.

Learn how we create a successful B2B video…

There’s a lot of steps that go into creating a “spot-on” video for our clients.

First, there’s the discovery and investigation phase. We try to interview as many key people as we can in order to get a variety of perspectives about their organization. It’s really important to not only see how the CEO see’s their company, but how the VP of Sales, and VP of Marketing see the company. Our agenda is to understand all of the different pieces that make our clients business work, and work well. We make sure we have the information we need in order to tell the story in the right voice and in the right way.

The responses have been extremely positive. Our CEO said it was a homerun! So again, great work. Please pass my thanks on to your team.”

– CW

Next, we take all that research feedback and begin to concept on all the possible themes that can help relay the message. After a variety of ideas have been solidified, we begin the script writing process. This is sometimes a straight-up copy based script which is then followed by visual storyboards. However, sometimes we’re able to do both at the same time depending on the concepts chosen. This is also typically the place where we begin to visualize a style which can comfortably support our overall message.

After the client is happy and we’ve got a green light, we begin our design phase. This is where have to match-up with the concept in a creative visual way. There’s often a number of different directions to go. Each video has it’s own agenda, therefore each animation, style, concept needs it’s own unique look and feel based on the company brand. Sometimes organizations want to do something totally different, while others need to keep it strictly aligned with the company identity guidelines.

Animation and sound are the final phases. We try our best to customize things in order to keep them interesting and engaging. Sometimes the concepts need energy and excitement, while others simply want you to sit back and relax. Finding that right animation style can be critical to the final outcome. We’ve got to make sure we’re speaking to our target audience in the most effective visual way possible, while still trying to “stand out” from the crowd. Sound and VoiceOver is are extremely important aspect to any animation piece. Is it quiet? Is it loud? Everything makes a difference at this level. Overall, the audio can give a video an entirely different feel, so selection is key.

Here’s a recent example of a successful B2B video Going Interactive created (following the above steps):

This video was used at an annual sales meeting to gain excitement for the upcoming calendar year. The video was so well received that the client not only has it on their home page and YouTube Channel, but are also using it in sales presentations to new and prospective clients. In addition, the client feels we hit the mark so well that they are going to include this overall message and concept into ALL of their other global marketing collateral for the year.

It’s really amazing how a simple video can tell such a powerful story (even in the B2B world).

Sincerely

I stumbled across this link the other day on YouTube, and no it’s not some funny video of a pizza party gone wrong, it’s actually something pretty insightful about marketing.

Fast Forward is a concept created by Google and the Wharton University of Pennsylvania. It’s tag line is…

Quick perspectives on the changing face of marketing. Watch. Engage. Debate.”

The website describes how “marketing is in the midst of a complex transformation”, which I guess it is, and probably always will be with the technology constantly changes. Fast Forward is geared towards multiple viewpoints from industry and academia leaders. There’s a ton of short videos which all relate to unique marketing topics. Through these videos the site hopes to show innovative ways to market to consumers, best practices for informed marketing and answers to pertinent questions which are on the minds of many agencies today.

What’s on the site?

Another section of the site is “Trends”, which shows more insight into consumer sentiment based on different types of searches through Google.

There’s also a “Future of Advertising” tab which has even more videos about the approach the site is taking on marketing topics.

A third tab labeled “Free Tools” is pretty much just that, free stuff. Don’t get too excited, it’s mostly from Google and it’s stuff that’s already out on the web, but for anyone who might be new to the land of online content and search, this is probably a helpful section. It covers ideas of search innovation, insights, speed, content and experimentation leveraging new opportunities with keyword tools.

The last tab of the site is called “Events”. This section seems to be compiled of short videos from Advertising Week in NYC. It includes roundtables with CEO’s both on agency and client side.

Final Thoughts

The whole concept of how consumers are now marketers and a conversation is not just one way, but multi-directional is really a pretty amazing and big idea to consider. Agencies and marketing firms can’t treat customers as an end result, but try to see them more as a partners. Technology helps us in so many ways, and Google is definitely near the forefront. It’s great they joined with Wharton and YouTube to create a mini destination for marketing insights.

Within the first couple days the site garnished thousands of page views and there’s been a consistent series of user sign-ups that are near the hundreds every single day. By those stats alone, the site is already a huge success.

The Home Safety Council® (HSC) is a national nonprofit organization. Through national programs, partnerships and the support of volunteers, HSC educates people of all ages to be safer in and around their homes.

Overall, Going Interactive worked with Brand Resources Group and Home Safety to create a new user friendly, modern design and well thought out website. GI focused on adding new and innovative social elements such as custom forums separated into specific audience groups, blog elements, Facebook fan page, YouTube Channel, Quiz’s, polls, Video player and much more. The site pushes users to sign up for free safety tips which is clearly assisting in the increase of enrollment. GI will continue to keep the site fresh and up-to-date with BRG and HSC with new and improved safety content.
